As part of a Rwandan safari you can also visit the Nyungwe National Park to trek with the chimpanzees or visit Akagera National Park, home of the elephatn population that Tammie has been working with the park staff and local guides to study since 2018. Rwanda is a conservation success story, with growing numbers of gorillas, elephants, rhinos and lions, a far cry from the 1990s and the tragic years during the genocide.
