- Comments: janette collins | HI, Your work is very critical and I wonder still that so few people undersatnd the intelligence, compassion and beauty of these creatures who are simply trying to live without human impact, spend time with their loved ones and be safe..how can this be any less important than human needs? They feel love, loss, pain, fear, excitement, as we do ..how can people own them and not respect this... My daghter and I plan ti visit Leks Sanctuary in Thailand as volunteers..having read Katy Paynes book, your next, I am very concerned about their comforts and need to be allowed to be a family.. I have sponsored ele's at the Sheldrick trust, written letters on behalf of captive ele's and really want to do more..time is of the essence. I had no idea where I wanted to take this, but have always been interested in communication and spreading the word about conservation through media. I rewarded myself after my final exams with reading a book given to me months ago by my mum, which I hadn’t gotten around to in between study and work. It was your book, Elephant Dance. I wanted to thank you for writing such an insightful, and inspirational novel. The way you write about your obsession with Africa has similarities with my own feelings for Asia, in particular Borneo. And reading your story has given me direction and a sense that even in a world where it is so easy to be pessimistic about conservation, I will be able to make a difference in some way.
- Comments: Hui Min | Yes. I just visited the Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre in Malaysia. We were been shown this video of how the elephants in the conservation centre help in relocating the wild elephants due to deforestation. It was such a touching moment. Keep up the good work in elephant conservation!!
